This Weekend: intu Metrocentre’s Winter Wonderland

I’ve just got back from holiday and it seems that the festive season has well and truly arrived in Geordieland, EXCITED, MUCH? I’m currently working on a full list of Christmassy events and local traditions that are not to be missed but while I add the finishing touches to that post, here’s details of a fabulous free weekend of festive fun that you can enjoy THIS WEEKEND!

Head to intu Metrocentre on Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th November and there’s no way you can fail to get in to the festive spirit. The shopping centre is hosting a two day winter weekender with live music, characters including the Metrognomes and an icy Snow Queen, children’s crafts and face painting, plus the chance to win some great spot prizes and competitions… how does a £1000 gift card sound?

If that wasn’t enough, there’ll also be an indoor skating rink in Exhibition Square (near Primark) for two days only.

My lovely colleague from Metro Radio, Dan Moylan, will be hosting the Christmas light switch on near House of Fraser on Saturday. Be there from 2 – 5pm to rub shoulders Oritsé from JLS, Team GB’s youngest Olympic medallist in 32 years, Amy Tinkler and some bearded fella who wears a red suit and has a penchant for mince pies 😉

intu Metrocentre’s grotto also opens from 9am on Saturday, and the extra fab news is… it’s FREE, in association with Playmobil! The grotto will be situated in the lower Qube, Yellow Mall and includes a fun children’s craft area with colouring in stations (handy as something tells me there’ll be big queues to meet Santa).

Plus, if you still have your wristband from the Saltwell Park fireworks display on 5 November, hand it in to any intu Metrocentre customer service desk this weekend and you’ll be entered in to a prize draw to win a £1000 intu Gift Card.

It’s going be a fun-packed weekend that’s for sure and I for one will be there, with jingle bells on!
