‘EAT! OUT’ – Don’t Miss Out

Next week sees the start of NewcastleGateshead’s epic ten day food festival that really does promise to be like no other!

You may remember last year I wrote a couple of posts about ‘Eat NewcastleGateshead’ which included a fab night of champagne tasting at the Lit&Phil, that was just one of many wonderful highlights and this year there are plenty more to choose from but themed with a little twist… as the name ‘Eat! Out’ might suggest, the events taking place 8-17 August are all foodie events in striking outdoor locations! I think this is a fabulous idea as we’re certainly not short of those in the North East!

Launch Feasts on the Swing Bridge

Imagine tucking in to a tasty feast cooked by a fabulous local chef as the RiverTyne flows under your feet! The imaginative launch event in partnership with Port of Tyne takes place on Friday 8 August and includes a behind the scenes look at how the Swig Bridge works!

Kids Cook School at Fenwick

A massively popular event for people trying to keep the kids entertained during the summer holidays. It happens everyday from Thursday 7th till Thursday 14the Aug with savoury cooking in the morning and sweet in the afternoon. Book your little ones in for both then you can sample their delights!

Food Heroes Festival

In the brochure for EAT! OUT it says that local chef Gareth Kyle will be attempting a world record for the longest chef demonstration, he was aiming for 37 hours but he’ll have to aim 42 now as someone recently beat him to it! Oh well, just means you get even longer to check it out, along with all the yummy stalls!

Naked Feasts

Now don’t worry, no need to brave the great outdoors in your birthday suit! Naked Feasts are a chance to sample some of our region’s best local produce put together by talented chefs in unique and iconic outdoor locations including the Vermont rooftop bar, Dunston Staiths and Rising Sun Farm in Wallsend. I think most big kids like me will be most excited about the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party with Beckleberry’s at the Toffee Factory where you’ll be able to help prepare the feast before tucking in!
