Half Term Fun with Little Inventors at the Discovery Museum

I often spend time with the little humans in my family during February half term but the unpredictable weather and mounting costs of keeping them entertained can make it tricky deciding where to go. While I was doing some research for their most recent visit I came across ‘Little Inventors’ and it’s so awesome it would be rude not to blog about it…

Little Inventors takes children’s wacky, creative and sometimes bonkers invention ideas and turns them in to reality which is so exciting because as we all know, children have the BEST ideas! 

You can read about loads of ways to get involved at www.littleinventors.org/about but the thing that really caught my eye on the website was the Little Inventors North 2030 challenge in association with the Great Exhibition of the North!

The Great Exhibition of the North will open on 22nd June 2018 (more info on that coming very soon!) but kids can take the Little Inventors North 2030 challenge anytime from now till 16th March.

Locoal children are being asked to imagine what life could be like in the North in 2030, thinking of all the challenges and opportunities that the future brings. The five most ingenious invention ideas will be made real by Magnificent Makers across the North and shown in the Great Exhibition of the North this summer!

To help feed their imagination the Discovery Museum in Newcastle is hosting interactive family workshops in the Play + Invent Space 11am – 3pm during half term (Monday 12th to Friday 16th February). There’s a small cost of £1.50 per child.

These sessions will be inspired by the North’s famous and historical inventors to help little ones think up ingenious, fantastical, funny or perfectly practical invention ideas with no limits! Get all the details here: www.discoverymuseum.org.uk/whats-on/play-invent-space

Entry to the Discovery Museum is free and there’s loads of other fun stuff for kids (and big kids) to enjoy so be sure to allow enough time to explore all the zones.
