Rachel's Guide to Newcastle and Beyond!
October 30, 2015 in Eating Out 10
A few days ago I had the pleasure of attending an exciting VIP launch event at the all new Fenwick Food Hall and I was absolutely blown away! Fenwick is my favourite department store in the whole world, it sells everything you could ever wish for and it’s in a beautiful building on Northumberland Street in the heart of Newcastle.
I’ve always been a big fan of the food hall and love taking visitors to show off our local delicacies. It had never really occurred to me that it needed a facelift but now that I’ve seen the transformation I’m prouder than ever of our ‘Harrods of the North’!
The launch party was very busy with lots of new brands and local businesses to discover. I couldn’t possibly squeeze it all in to one blog post so here are a few highlights from some of the impressive dining concepts and delicious artisan foods I enjoyed on the evening…
The new Fenwick Food Hall is a chocoholics dream, I have been dreaming about these truffles since the event and can’t wait to  go back and treat myself.
I could have spent hours in the beer and wine room and was delighted to see a huge array of local ales.
Fuego is a stylish new wine bar and restaurant where you can enjoy Mediterranean inspired tapas, charcuterie and hand-stretched pizzas.
There’s a fishmonger and fish bar with a difference called Saltwater Fish Company. French-style fruits de mer platters are created by revered chef Terry Laybourne, offering a casual seafood dining experience with delicious food fresh from the North East coast. These yummy Lindisfarne oysters are only ÂŁ1 during happy hour!
The smell coming from Rafi’s Spicebox was out of this world and the staff were extremely passionate about their products. I’d love to be more adventurous with Indian cooking and they make it so easy with the unique Curry Packs made fresh to order.
So it turns out there’s not one but two new Terry Laybourne eateries in Fenwick Food Hall. Ko Sai is a venture with chef and business partner Parichat Somsri-Kirby who grew up in Thailand so expect lots of street food inspired cuisine.
My obsession with cheese is well and truly catered for at Fenwick Food Hall and I am going to find it very hard not to overspend here at Christmas!
It was really nice bumping in to so many lovely people at the event and I was snapped by the official photographer with my good friend Zoe and Kari from O PR.
I felt very lucky being able to try lots of different goodies as I wandered around the aisles at the launch event but you can have a similar experience TONIGHT (30/10/15) as the Fenwick Food Hall is staying open until 10pm with demonstrations and sampling from many suppliers. If you can’t make it tonight then just get there as soon as you can, it really is fabulous! To find out about future events follow Fenwick on Facebook
It looks amazing, I haven’t found the time to pop in yet but definately will.
I can’t wait to go try this out! Did you have any of the Naked Deli food? They’re definitely on my hit list đ

[…] The Food Hall at Fenwick is the perfect place to pick up local delicacies and the confectionary is simply out of this world! Plus it has all my favourite clothing and cosmetic brands too, I could spend all day (and all my savings!) in there. […]
[…] The Fenwick Food Hall stocks many of these luxury products plus loads more and I think they make wonderful gifts. I recently picked up a special Alnwick Rum Christmas pudding from Fenwick which I can’t wait to send to someone special. […]
