Rachel's Guide to Newcastle and Beyond!
Gateshead Family Sculpture Day is set to return the beautiful surroundings of Saltwell Park for its 32nd year on Sunday 24th September, 11am-4pm.
I’ve heard so many good things about this fun filled day out that is organised by Gateshead Council’s Culture Team, but despite it being a firm favourite with locals, it’s an event I have yet to enjoy for myself. Some of the pics I saw on social media from last year’s event made me feel like I was really missing out!

If you’re one of the 2000 people that joined in the making and crating at Sculpture Day last year, well then you already know what it’s all about. If like me you’re new to the event then the tag line ‘Hammers, Wood, Nails, Make Things’ tells you everything you need to know.
Artists, professional sculptors and friendly volunteers will be on hand to help us get started so all we need to do is think of something to make that fits with this year’s theme ‘Four Seasons’. Hmmm, the possibilities are endless!
Entry to the event is free (small charges for tool hire and Raku pottery) so pop it in your diary!

Thanks for info. The park’s a lovely place for a stroll when the weather’s good.
