A New City Centre Spa for Newcastle

May 21, 2017 in Luxury 10

Working in the city centre of Newcastle certainly has its benefits, I have a vast amount of lunch options to choose from, I can enjoy a spot of retail therapy or after work drinkies whenever I fancy, and now I have a gorgeous new spa on my doorstep too!

My office is so close it fits in to the same photo!

All About You is a brand new addition to The Grey Street Hotel and part of a 1.2 million pound makeover for the grade II listed hotel. I was one of the first people to book an appointment in the new luxury spa because I simply couldn’t wait to check it out!

As I descended the stairs to the renovated basement below the Georgian building, the first thing I noticed was the divine smell of frangipani. I didn’t have to wait long in reception before I was welcomed by Elaine, the manager, who greeted me with a warm smile and explained that my treatment would be carried out by a therapist called Rachel (good name).

Elaine also presented me with a complimentary Elemis gift bag as I was one of their first clients to book an Elemis treatment. I was delighted to discover it contained a bottle of Monoi Oil and a shower cream, both in that amazing frangipani fragrance!

After filling out an Elemis questionnaire (why do spas always want to know your life story?) I then followed Rachel to one of the new treatment rooms. All About You is decorated with neutral grey and pebble tones, giving the spa a really modern and luxurious feel. I could feel myself relax almost immediately.

Rachel explained that my choice of a ‘Hot Mineral Body Boost’ would be more relaxing than a deep tissue massage and that it was designed to detoxify the body and re-energise me. It sounded like just what I needed so I made myself comfortable on the massage table and let Rachel work her magic. She started by using what felt like hot cloths on my feet and rubbing oil in to my tired calfs, I was in heaven! Soothing music played from an ipad and if I’m really honest, I may have momentarily drifted off!

Sixty minutes whizzed by and I was most disappointed when Rachel announced that my treatment had come to an end, I could have laid there all day.

I definitely felt much more energised the next day and I am already planning a return visit to All About You. I’d love to try the Lava Shell Massage and as the spa is open till 8pm on weekdays it is the perfect place for an emergency mani/pedi or express facial after a long day at work, or an alternative night out with the girls!

If you want to plan your own visit to All About You you can read about all the treatments on offer HERE or give them a follow on Facebook to keep up to date with offers.

Looks good. I’ve been looking for a quality local spa to visit, to try and help reduce the tension in my shoulder blades after long days sitting in front of the computer.
