Rachel's Guide to Newcastle and Beyond!
April 30, 2018 in Festivals and Events 4
The last few weekends have given us glimmers of sunshine in the North East, it’s still flipping freezing but the brighter days have got me dreaming of summer. I am already planning lots of weekend adventures across the region and hoping to get plenty of use out of my picnic blanket.
We love picnic season!
Something that has definitely caught my eye is a brand new series of outdoor music events coming to Northumberland’s Alnwick Castle in July…. Summer House Sounds! The promoters Cuffe and Taylor specialise in taking music to the people in unique and beautiful locations and they have certainly picked a winner with Alnwick Castle.
What a venue! Image credit: NGI
The breathtaking venue is the second largest inhabited castle in the country; home to the Duke of Northumberland’s family, the Percys, for over 700 years. The magnificent medieval castle has a rich and fascinating history and will be familiar to many as Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in the Harry Potter films. What an amazing backdrop for an evening of live music!
King of disco!
The eclectic line up for Summer House Sounds at Alnwick Castle has something for everyone. I am particularly excited about Nile Rodgers & Chic, dancing shoes will need to be worn that night for sure! I reckon I’d really enjoy Tom Jones too, I’ve never seen him live before but he’s an absolute legend isn’t he?
Here’s the full line up…
Wednesday 11 July – Nile Rodgers & CHIC
Friday 13 July – Tom Jones (supported by The Voice finalists Into the Ark)
14 July – Madness
15 July – Il Dino
Tickets to all Summer House Sounds concerts are available from www.ticketmaster.co.uk
