Rachel's Guide to Newcastle and Beyond!
November 17, 2014 in Something a bit random! 3
Perhaps it was because I was on such a high after scooping a prize at the North East Blogger Awards, or maybe I’ve just become so accustomed to the Geordie phrase ‘shy bairns get nowt’ but I recently found myself entering Life in Geordieland in to the UK Blog Awards!
These prestigious awards were set up last year to recognise the growing importance of blogging across a wide range of industries in the UK. According to the organisers, there are 31% more bloggers today than there were four years ago so understandably, the concept of a National Awards was very popular!
The first phase of voting is now live and it’s a public vote so I’d love you to get behind it and show your support for Life in Geordieland. It’s been entered in to two categories, ‘Lifestyle’ and ‘Arts & Culture’, you can even vote in both categories if you’re feeling generous, just be sure to do it before 3rd December!
If I can drum up enough support for my little blog, I may even make it through to phase two when a panel of industry experts will shortlist ten blogs in each category. The shortlisted finalists will be announced mid-December, imagine what a wonderful Christmas pressie that would be? Following this, a glamourous awards ceremony will take place in London in April which I’d absolutely love to be a part of, well, any excuse to go dress shopping!
Below are the links to vote and if you want to keep up to date on twitter be sure to follow @UKBlogAwards or check out the hashtag #UKBA15

Massive thanks in advance for all your support. I love writing this blog and my motivation to do it is never about winning awards but to shine a light on the fabulous place where I live. However, if I can do both, that would make me very proud indeed!

Congratulations on your award! Just seen the RT on @VisitEngland. Glad to see you liked Body Worlds, I recently visited the exhibition in Newcastle and loved it.
