VAMOS! Festival – Let’s Go!

July 2, 2013 in Festivals and Events 0

Now in it’s eighth year in NewcastleGateshead, VAMOS! Festival is a month long celebration of Spanish and Portuguese speaking cultures during which we are invited to take part in an exciting and diverse calendar of events!

VAMOS! was launched in an explosion of colour and sound at The Cluny on the 14th June with festival headliner Los Chinches, one of the most acclaimed artists from the British Latin music scene. I couldn’t make the party but I heard there were are few sore heads the next morning, not mention sore feet from all the dancing!

vamos

Last weekend one of my favourite Newcastle Streets, High Bridge, was transformed by VAMOS! in the High Bridge takeover which took place straight after the Tyne Carnival Parade. This event was one I definitely couldn’t miss and it was good job I was wearing my dancing shoes because everyone was encouraged to get up and have a boogie.

Don’t worry if you’ve not caught any of the festival fun yet, there are still two weeks left to make the most of everything that VAMOS! has to offer! Fancy a beginners Salsa lesson? Then head to The Ship on July 10th! Want to see Mexican Wrestling (I mean who doesn’t??) Then make sure you’re at the Boiler Shop on July 13th! There really is something for everyone in this eclectic line-up, cuisine, art, film, theatre, dance, music, literature, fashion and sport, VAMOS! has got the lot.

The name of the festival also translates as ‘Let’s Go’ so what are waiting for?
